CarbonStory and the United Nations Environment Programme wanted to raise awareness about climate change by personalising the devastating effects of rising sea levels. And what could be more personal than your home? World Under Water lets users type any location to see how rising sea levels would affect them. People can also take action by calculating and offsetting their own carbon footprint. World Under Water was a winner at the One Show, Webby’s and many more. I steered the art, and copy to make sure World Under Water would capture the public’s attention in time for World Environment Day, and used social media to get the word out. It worked! While this project won many awards, the biggest honour was to see Christiane Amanpour do a special segment on climate change with World Under Water images illustrating the story.
